Behind the Scenes! Introducing MOTAL's Intern Allison Koehler​

I am thrilled to be able to work with MOTAL as a curatorial and archival intern—it truly feels like the perfect confluence of my background in education and emerging museum career.


Before coming to MOTAL, I attended Pitzer College where I earned my BA with a triple major in International and Intercultural Studies, Spanish, and Studio Art. I got to spend the Spring semester of my junior year abroad in Ecuador— I love to travel and explore new places at home or abroad whenever I can!


After graduation I spent a year working with AmeriCorps where I found my passion for education, then went on to earn my Teaching Credential and MA in Education from Antioch University. For the following decade, I worked as a Visual Arts teacher, fostering students’ creative, intellectual, social, and emotional growth through art. I also maintain my own studio art practice, engaging in the same creative and reflective processes that I teach.


I am now working toward my MA in Cultural Studies with a Museum Studies Concentration at Claremont Graduate University, with the goal of applying my teaching experience to a new career in museum education and outreach.
